Here’s a fascinating car. It’s an Iconic Autobody 386 Speedster, based on a 2001 Porsche Boxster 2.7, and a homage to the classic 356 Speedster. It’s not a Speedster replica, but rather a clever 21st century restyle which retains the Boxster’s mod-cons and usability. It’s a striking car!

This was the first 386 Speedster to be built by Iconic Autobody and, as such, was featured in magazine articles. It looks amazing, with its grey metallic paintwork, 17-inch Fuchs-style wheels, roll-hoop fairings and beautifully finished body panels. Side air intakes concealed door handles, chrome fuel flap, aluminium door mirrors and leather bonnet straps are all neat details, as are the LED headlamps and spot lights.

The interior is just as striking. It remains obviously Boxster, and so very comfortable and useable, but has been beautifully retrimmed in red leather with eye-catching seat vents. The car retains its climate control and Bose sound system, while there’s a modern Pioneer CarPlay unit and heated seats. The original electric roof is retained, too, so it’s truly an all-weather car, while the Boxster’s twin luggage compartments ensures its practical, too.
