This Porsche Boxster is a real time capsule, as it is one of the first ones ever sold, being registered in April 1997 soon after the car went on sale. What’s more, it’s covered just 38,600 miles and is as close to as-new condition as you could imagine.

The car is finished in the model’s launch colours of Arctic Silver Metallic with a full Boxster Red leather interior, which is a winning combination. The specification is refreshingly simple, with 17-inch Carrera Twist wheels, a CDR21 radio/CD player, front centre console, and a storage pocket on the rear bulkhead between the seats.

The Porsche benefits from a well documented service history and just two owners from new. It’s due a major service soon, so we shall do that ready for the new owner. It’s in superb condition, throughout. The hood is almost new, as are the Toyo tyres. The full leather Boxster Red interior is opulent and in lovely condition, as is the exterior.

With its 2.5-litre flat-six engine and five-speed gearbox, this is a reminder of just how good the original 986 Boxster really was. So many today are tired and scruffy, but this remains taut and precise to drive, and it looks beautifully pure and simple.
