Porsche 911 Carrera 3.8 lookalike – SOLD

Here’s a fun Porsche!

It’s based on a 1979 Porsche 911SC but has had a full 964 Carrera 3.8RS bodykit added, including that huge rear spoiler. Finished in Guards Red, the car really does look striking, and every detail has been attended to; including later-style 993 door handles and Cup door mirrors.

There are bills for over £10,000 for the parts alone; labour and painting must have been on top of that. There’s also an invoice for a top-end rebuild in 2000 (the mileage then was around 54,000; it’s now 98,438).

The wheels are 17-inch split-rims, similar to those fitted to the genuine 3.8RS and are shod with very good Pirelli PZero tyres.

Inside, the SC interior is finished black and dark-red leather. It’s not perfect, but pretty good for its age and much better than many SCs we see. There’s a beautiful Momo steering wheel, too.

Note that the car was recorded as Cat D in 2005, after minor rear-end damage but it has since been fully repaired.

Priced at just £12,995, we see this as an affordable Porsche that you could enjoy as it is or, even better, strip out the interior and fit a lightweight RS interior, with sports seats. Not only would that cut down the weight even further, it would also match the exterior and make the car into an even more convincing 3.8RS replica. Now there’s an idea!

The car will receive a full mechanical inspection before being sold and a copy of that report will be available to buyers.
