I’ve just finished writing a feature for GT Porsche on the Porsche 996. The first of the watercooled Porsche 911s, much has been written about the 996 in the past but, sadly, a lot of it has been negative.
What I’ve done, is taken a fresh positive approach to the Porsche 996 and argued that, actually, it’s a very good 911. I’m not going to give away the whole story, you’ll need to wait for the magazine to come out for that, but I really do like the 996 and believe it deserves more respect in the Porsche world. Find a good one, and it will be a joy to drive and own. In fact, here’s one that we’re selling.

I still say nothing wrong with them people can get too hung up on the water cooled bit , it’s progress
Sorry Phil 996 just doesn’t do it for me in the looks dept. I think the 996 GT3RS is a fantastic car but I can’t get over its looks.
Merci, cordialement.

No doubt: Its faulty designed standard engine is the grave digger of the 996.
