Top Gear drives the Porsche 996 Carrera on Pendine Sands

Here’s an interesting piece from Top Gear 2004. It a road test of the Porsche 996 Carrera alongside the BMW 645Ci and Jaguar XKR. Back then, of course, the 996 was a current model and it’s interesting to see how enthusiastic the presenters – Richard Hammand in particular – are about the Porsche. It just proves what I always say – the Porsche 996 is a great 911.

Part of the video (it’s in two sections below) was made on Pendine Sands in Wales and it must surely rate as some of Top Gear’s best footage ever. It’s simply stunning. It can’t have done the cars much good, though, all that salt water and sand. I wonder what happened to the 996 they used…
