Aston Martin DB2/4

£180,000.00

Dating from 1954, this Aston Martin DB2/4 is a rare and lovely motorcar. It is finished in deep blue metallic paintwork with complementing wire wheels.

The sumptuous interior would have been the height of luxury in the 1950s and, indeed, is supremely comfortable and cosseting today. The seats are clad in cream leather and there’s a full walnut dashboard. It is all very original and honest.

The Aston has a very well-documented and fascinating history. Originally registered in the UK, it spent time in Florida, USA during the 1980s before returning to these shores, where it regained its original (and now valuable) registration of ‘RVF 9’. All the previous are owners documented, including Graham Nearn, the founder of Caterham cars.

The car was with the same owner from 1999 to 2020, during which time the car was treated to a documented £50,000 rolling restoration to ensure it was in excellent condition, inside and out. The engine was rebuilt by Four Ashes Garage in 2008, using a new block retaining the original engine number. The new block was supplied by  Vetus Engineering at a cost of £5850; the entire engine work came to over £17,000. The original block has been retained and comes with the car. The car has done some 8000 miles since then. In 2014, an £11,000 suspension overhaul was undertaken, followed by a £4000 gearbox rebuild the following year. Photographs and invoices back up the work done.

The Aston comes with two big folders of paperwork plus an Aston Martin sales brochure, driver’s handbook, original spares and parts manual and workshop manual.

This is very much a usable example of a rare classic sports coupe, which can be enjoyed and cherished. We are selling it on behalf of its owner.

The Aston Martin DB2/4 was a development of the DB2, cleverly modified to give two rear seats and an opening rear window – creating the world’s first hatchback car. James Bond drives an Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk III in the novel version of Goldfinger.
