Porsche 996 Carrera 4S coincidences

It’s a funny old world. Earlier this week, I received an email from a chap in Australia who’d just bought a Porsche 996 Carrera 4S which I’d had in stock a year or so back and which was featured in a magazine.

Then, I just happened to be in the same multi-storey car park where that Porsche had been photographed and, lo and behold, there was an almost identical Arctic Silver Carrera 4S parked in just the place I took the photos!

Here’s a photo from the original magazine shoot of the Porsche that’s now in Australia:

And here’s a quick iPhone photo of the Porsche I spotted this week in the same place:

It’s tricky and expensive to import cars into Australia, if they are newer than 1989 which, of course, this one is. However, you can do it if it was your own car for at least a year in the UK and you then take it over as a personal import, which is what happened with this example.

The new owner down-under tells me that he’s delighted with his new Porsche – he had a Boxster previously – and is planning on using it for club events and road trips. Sounds great to me!
