This weighty tome landed on my desk with a thump the other day. It’s the new Bentley Porsche 993 Carrera Service Manual and I’m very impressed by it.
I’ve had other 993 Carrera service manuals before and they’ve been adequate but lacking in some areas. This one, though, seems to be very comprehensive. There are masses of illustrations, both full colour photographs and mono line drawings – all very clear and useful. It’s obvious that a huge amount of work and research has gone into the production of this book.
Every aspect of service and repair is covered, from removing a rear badge to dropping the engine. There are also countless wiring diagrams and information on diagnostics.
If you own a Porsche 993 and do some home maintenance, then this service manual is an essential purchase. OK, most owners aren’t going to do some of the major jobs such as an engine rebuild themselves, but it’s worth having the book to be able to refer to more minor jobs such as replacing rear lamps. And, of course, even if you’re paying someone else to do major work, it’s useful to be able to see what you’re getting for your money!
The Porsche 993 Carrera Service Manual costs $219.95 (about £138) but is currently on offer at $149.95 (£95). It’s worth every penny! Click here to order direct from the publisher.
