The wide-bodied Porsche 993 Carrera S surely one of the best-looking 911s ever. It’s rare, too, as this -rear-drive model was only made in 1997, right at the end of air-cooled production.
Because of its desirability and rarity, 993 Carrera S prices are strong; it’s rare to see one for less than £30,000, with exceptional examples touching £40,000.
So I was surprised to spot this one up for just £21,950 – that’s standard 993 money? What gives? as they say in America.
Well, a few immediate negative points spring to mind.
First off, the colour. I like Arena Red but many buyers don’t, and the beige leather interior isn’t popular, either.
Next, the mileage is high at 123,000, which is not an issue for a well maintained 993 but buyers of these cars are obsessed by low mileage.
Finally, it’s a Tiptronic and most 993 buyers want a manual gearbox.
Hoever, even taking all this into account, it still seems a very good deal, unless there’s something I don’t know. Worth further investigation, I reckon.
