Porsche 911 values – compare like with like

I’m getting a lot of serious interest, from the UK and overseas, in a Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Supersport I have in stock. It’s a lovely car with a great history, reasonable mileage, rebuilt engine, and is one of just 46 coupes sold in the UK (check the classifieds and you’ll see most are Cabriolets or Targas). With all this in mind, it’s priced accordingly at £24,000.

However, one person said that he thought that the car was overpriced when  you can buy a standard 911SC for £12,000 to £14,000. This worried me because it suggested that he didn’t have a grasp of the Porsche 911 market. The SC is the predecessor of the 3.2 Carrera, so he’s not comparing like with like. Also, I’d argue that an SC in similar condition to my Supersport would be worth closer to £18,000, perhaps even more as good SCs are few and far between.

I can understand the gentleman’s reasoning as the classic Porsche 911 market isn’t an easy one to follow, especially if you’re new to Porsches. My job, though, is to help people to work out what Porsche they really want and then make sure they buy that car – either from me or from someone else.
