Patrick Paternie – Porsche writer

I’ve just read on Facebook that Patrick Paternie has died. Patrick was a well-known and respected American writer and photographer who specialised in Porsches. I never met him but we regularly exchanged emails over the years and he always came across as a true gentleman.

Patrick wrote articles and books about Porsches and perhaps his best-known work is the Porsche 911 Red Book. A superb pocket-sized book that contains masses of data about every production Porsche 911 from 1965 to 1999 (a later edition continued to 2005). I’ve got my copy in front of me now and it’s one of my most well-used Porsche reference books – and will continue to be so.

My condolences to Patrick’s friends and family.
