Over £37,000 for a rusty old Porsche 911!

Last week, I reported on an interesting 1969 Porsche 911E that was being sold on eBay. The auction has now ended at a cool £37,000. That’s a lot of money for a car that requires a total restoration (which could easily be over £50,000 in itself) and the general feedback I got was that the car wasn’t worth that much.

As I said before, it’s hard to put a value on such a car. Yes, it’s rare and an interesting piece of Porsche history but not as desirable as, say, a 911S, so will it be worth £100,000 once it’s restored? Normally you’d struggle to pay that much for a perfect 911S (I saw a superb one for an eye-watering £80,000) so it’s all down to whether or not someone will pay over the odds for the car’s interesting provenance.
