2002-2006

The Cayenne S was powered by a 4.5-litre V8 engine that produced 340bhp, giving excellent performance for an off-roader. 62mph could be reached in just 6.8 seconds (7.2 with the optional Tiptronic S transmission) before going on to a top speed of 150mph (for both manual and Tiptronic S).

As with the standard Cayenne, the went through either a six-speed manual gearbox with Porsche Drive Off Assistant, which made it easier to start on a hill by automatically controlling the brakes, or via an optional six-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.

And there was the same Porsche Traction Management, which controlled how much power went to the front or rear. Under normal conditions the ratio was 63 percent rear and 38 percent front, but this could change to as much as 100 percent front or rear if required.
