2009-2012
In 2009, the 997 Turbo was updated in line with the rest of the 997 Carrera range, with restyled LED rear lights and front driving lights.
However, the important changes were to the engine and drivetrain. Capacity increased from 3.6 to 3.8-litres giving an output of 500bhp, yet fuel consumption was down by as much as 16 percent, thanks to Direct Fuel Injection (DFI).
What’s more, the 997 Turbo could be had with an optional PDK gearbox with seven speeds and the choice of manual or automatic changes. Paddle shifters became an option instead of the usual PDK buttons on the steering wheel.
A new option was Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV). This used a mechanical rear axle differential and, intervened in the braking on the inner rear wheel in a bend as required, thus enhancing the agility of the car while reducing any tendency to understeer.
Variations
