A friend in the USA just sent me a link to this advert for a Porsche 996 Carrera 4S
The first thing that struck me was that it is odd to see an Official Porsche Centre (Center?) selling a 10-year-old car, and then I spotted the mileage. This 996 Carrera 4S has just 1224 miles on the clock! In effect, then, it’s as good as new.
The asking price is $54,000 which equates to £34,000. Now, that’s a lot of money for a 996 Carrera 4S but it’s less than half the price of a brand-new Porsche 911. Look at it like that and it’s a bargain.
As ever, though, the problem with a mega low mileage car is, what do you do with it? Drive it and put miles on it and it will lose its uniqueness and value. However, if everyone who bought a new car used that argument, no one would ever drive anywhere! No, it makes sense for the buyer of this Porsche 996 Carrera 4S to go out and use it every day in the manner it which was intended.
