When I spotted an advert for a Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 priced at a cool £60,000 – three times the price of a very nice example – I had to find out more. So I’ve spent the day at Precision Porsche driving the car and talking to the people behind the car.
This in, in effect, as close as you’ll get to a brand new Carrera 3.2. Practically every part of it has been rebuilt, restored or replaced. And at great expense – £500 for a door catch, anyone?
In many ways, the car drives just like a well-sorted £20,000 but it is oh-so fresh and clean inside and out (and, notably, underneath). However, it’s all the little things that add up to make the Porsche look and feel extra special – the fact the door shut with a positive clunk with the need to slam them.
Is it worth £60,000? That’s a tricky question. If you look into the time and money that have been poured into it then, yes, of course it is. It’s a car you could invest in today and keep for the rest of your life.
