Porsche 964 Anniversary wanted

We have a customer looking for a Porsche 964 Anniversary. It’s a sad story – he had an Anniversary that he loved but it got written off in an accident. The problem is, just 42 right-hand drive examples came to the UK when the car was produced in 1993, to  celebrate 30 years of the Porsche 911. We know of one other car that’s been written off and at least two that have gone overseas, and inevitably others will have been lost over the years. Indeed, we suspect that there are less than 30 964 Anniversaries left in the UK. […]

Porsche 964 Carrera 4 coming soon

Long-time Porsche 964 enthusiasts will no doubt remember John Miles and his Guards Red 964 Carrera 4. The car has been featured several times in magazines including Car and  911 & Porsche World, plus various websites, over the years. Indeed, I wrote a number of articles on the car myself. John bought the 964 20 years ago when he hit 40; he called it his “meno-Porsche”. Soon after, he set up a website devoted to the 964, which was one of the world’s first Porsche fan sites and soon became an invaluable resource for 964 owners and buyers; at a […]

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 – should you buy one?

Porsche has just unveiled the new 991 Carrera 4 at the Paris motor show, which was no surprise as the car had already been announced. As per the 997 before it, the new four-wheel drive variant can be distinguished by its wider rear wings and full-width rear reflector between the lights. I suspect that it’s these cosmetic changes, rather than any dynamic advantages, which will attract buyers to the 4 and 4S over their less expensive rear-wheel drive counterparts. Porsche first introduced a four-wheel drive 911 back in 1989 with the 964 Carrera 4. This was followed a year later […]

Porsche 993 – a great investment for the Star Wars generation?

Can a standard Porsche 993 Carrera 4 be worth £47,000? That’s double what you’d expect to pay for a reasonable narrow-bodied 993. I’ve just been sent a link to an interesting blog post by a Porsche 993 owner, Simon Das. He claims that the 993 is the car that ‘the Star Wars generation’ wants – guys in their 30s. He puts forward the usual argument for the 993 – rock-solid build quality, everything works, there’s not much to go wrong and so on (although his claim that there’s no ‘computer panel to go wrong’ isn’t quite true – that heater […]

Porsche 964 Carrera air-conditioning fixed!

I’m selling a lovely Porsche 964 Carrera 4. It’s a stunning car that’s had a lot of money spent on getting it to tip-top condition. The only thing that let it down was the fact that the air-conditioning didn’t work. The previous owner argued that it wasn’t worth spending money on a system that was never that good in the first place. A sentiment I agree with. Like him, I assumed that it would cost a lot of money to get the air-con working – and it can, £2000 is not unheard of if there is corrosion in the pipes […]

Porsche 964 Carrera 4 video

Here’s my first tentative steps into video, with the help of my ten-year-old son. Constructive criticism welcome! 🙂 Click here for more information on the Porsche 964.

Washing Porsches is fun!

My first job of the day was washing a Porsche – a 996 Carrera 4 to be precise. It didn’t need anything fancy – just a quick sponge down and dry to remove some everyday grime. It was already beautifully polished with Zymol and in great condition. I have to admit that I’m not the world’s best car cleaner. I’m patient with many things, but I can’t be spending hours, if not days, detailing a Porsche – I use a very good valeter for that. However, when it comes to a quick sponge down (the Porsche not me) I’m in […]

A brief history of the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 – video

Following my previous post about the new Carrera 4 GTS, here’s a great little video that gives you a short history of the 911 Carrera 4. Well worth watching!

What’s the point of the Porsche 997 Carrera 4 GTS?

Porsche has just announced yet another incarnation of the 997. The Carrera 4 GTS is, as the name suggests, a four-wheel drive version of the GTS. Now, the Carrera GTS is a great halfway house between the Carrera and the GT3 and, crucially, represents superb value for money. If I was buying a brand-new 911, it’s the one I’d choose. However, already people are asking what is the point of the Carrera 4 GTS? Good question and to find out, we need to go back in time. Porsche originally introduced the Carrera 4 back in 1989, as the first version […]

Porsche 964 and 996 Carrera 4

I couldn’t resist taking this photo of a pair of Porsche 911 Carrera 4s I have in stock. One is exactly ten years younger than the other, but they are both gorgeous. Which would you choose?
