GT Porsche magazine, April 2016

I was delighted to receive the latest (April 2016) issue of GT Porsche magazine with one of my features on the front cover.

Last month, editor Simon Jackson, photographer Gus Gregory and I braved Hayling Island on a cold but sunny winter’s day for a photoshoot featuring a 1985 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera and a brand-new 991.2 Carrera – both finished in glorious Guards Red. They looked great with the Solent and the Isle of Wight behind.

The aim was to see just how the Porsche 911 has evolved over the last 30 years and to get acquainted with the freshly launched 991.2 – the first 911 Carrera to be endowed with a turbocharged engine as standard.

While the 911’s side profile remains instantly recognisable, it wasn’t until we got the two cars next to each other that we realised just how much the front end has changed in 30 years. The photograph on the front cover shows it perfectly – there is little resemblance between the two cars’ snouts.

Of course, the Porsches have changed tremendously in others ways, too, and the article talks about that.

And what of the new turbocharged engine? I surprised myself by absolutely loving it! To find out, why, pick up a copy of GT Porsche from your local newsagent or click here. It’s a great issue with, among other things, a first look at the new 718 Boxster, yet more on the new 991, a brace of 964 Turbos, a detailed look at the Mezger engine, and I review Porsche 928 values.

The 3.2 Carrera didn’t disappoint, either, with bags of character. It’s a lovely example that we are selling here.
