Remembering the Great War with a Porsche 997

I wrote this back in 2006, and it remains close to my heart. It’s funny what life throws at you. Not long ago, I found myself in a remote part of France, standing alone at the grave of a relative I never knew, with an entertaining 997 standing outside the cemetery gates, the ‘tick-ticking’ of its hot engine the only thing breaking the silence on this quiet, late summer day.
