Porsche 996 in GT Porsche magazine

I’m becoming more and more of a fan of the Porsche 996, one of the most underrated 911s today. Find a good, well-maintained example and it’s a joy to drive with all the characteristics you’d expect of a true Porsche 911. I’ve explained why the Porsche 996 is a great 911 in an article in the current issue of GT Porsche magazine, so do please pick up a copy to read my thoughts. It’s also got a great feature on the new Porsche 991 GT3 and a first drive of the new Cayman, so well worth getting. In the meantime, […]

Buy a Porsche in time for summer

It seems that most people in the UK are moaning about the extended spell of bad weather we’ve been having, so here’s a photo of a Porsche 911 in the sunshine to cheer you all up. It was taken a few years ago in the Swiss Alps, when my wife and I were on a driving holiday there in the company of Driving Adventures. What a great trip that was! Summer will be here soon, I’m sure, so now’s the time to buy that Porsche that you’ve always promised yourself. Click here for details of our current stock and keep […]

Porsche Cayenne Turbo – the ultimate sports car?

Porsche 911s are my mainstay and they’re always a pleasure to have in stock. However, we’ve just taken on a Porsche Cayenne Turbo and I’ve been thoroughly impressed by it. I’d not driven a Cayenne Turbo for some time, so I’d forgotten what superb cars they are. The cabin is spacious and supremely comfortable with lots of gadgets (including a heated steering wheel that moves out of the way when you exit the car) and acres of leather, and there’s plenty room for five people and a dog in the boot (or luggage for those five). However, it’s the performance […]

Porsche 996 Digital Sound Processing option

There was a customer’s Porsche 996 in the workshop today and I spotted it had a rare option – Digital Sound Processing or DSP. I can’t remember the last time I saw this. Digital Sound Processing was an addition to the Porsche Sound Package (usually known as Bose)and consisted of a control panel in the lower part of the centre console. It was effectively a graphic equaliser and allowed you to modify the sound to suit the sort of music you were playing and your personal taste. I had a quick play around with it but, like a graphic equaliser, didn’t […]

The new Porsche 991 GT3

Porsche has just announced details of its new Porsche 991 GT3. Here’s a copy of the press release:   The sportiest 911 will have its world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show: the new Porsche 911 GT3. In the 50th anniversary year of the 911, Porsche is now set to open a new chapter in race track performance sports cars. The fifth generation of the 911 GT3, a complete new development, will take the pole position among the thoroughbred Porsche sports cars with naturally aspirated engines. Boxer engine and transmission, as well as body and chassis are completely new […]
