Porsche Carrera 3.0 RSR racing at the Nürburgring

Porsche Carrera 3.0 RSR racing at the Nürburgring

I’m sorry but here’s another self-indulgent post. I spotted this wonderful period photo in a selection sent to me from the Porsche Archive, and had to share it.

It shows three Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR racecars competing hard in the ADAC Super-Sprint at the Nürburgring in 1975. I love the the quality of these old photographs – it was obviously shot on film and has then been scanned to create a digital version. It’s a bit grainy, contrasty and faded but that just adds to its appeal. People spend ages in Photoshop creating similar effects with a modern digital image (or seconds with an iPhone app!) so it’s good to see a genuine photograph.

And as for the RSR – it’s an important part of the Porsche 911 history, as it was the first to boast that super-wide look that we all now know.

Don’t you just love the Seventies? 🙂

Not sure if you ever have been over at the Ring but if you go and want to see some RSRs you should check the classic car gp which is normally in august, access all areas. Cheers, Mark
