1998 Porsche 996 Carrera coupe SOLD

Here’s a real gem of a car! So many 996s are scruffy and uncared for these days yet here’s one that has been beautifully looked after. Driving it reminds me of what a great 911 the 996 is.

It’s a 1998 car that’s been with the same owner for the last six years and he’s cherished it in that time. He’s now reluctantly decided to sell it as he’s got a Caterham as a weekend toy.

The Porsche is finished in flawless Vesuvius Metallic paintwork, which is a very dark grey with a slight warm tinge to it. It’s a stunning colour that makes a refreshing change from the usual silver. The front end has just been repainted by an Authorised Porsche Bodyshop, and the 18-inch Turbo wheels have recently been refurbished.

Inside, you find a full Boxster Red (a reddish tan) leather interior which looks so much more sumptuous than grey or black. The seats are optional hard-backed Sports items, while the steering wheel is a three-spoked one. Again, it’s all in superb condition.

The manual-transmission car benefits from optional MO30 Sports suspension (lowered by 10mm), a limited slip differential and traction control.

It has covered 87,000 miles and has a fully documented service history. The last service was in March this year by PCT, a respected Porsche specialist. The MoT was renewed at the same time.

The clutch was replaced at 52,000 miles and, as a matter of course, the rear main seal (RMS) was replaced at the same time. The engine is free of leaks. The front radiators were replaced last year.

I can confidently say that this is the best 3.4-litre 996 I’ve seen for a long time and at £14,995 you won’t get more 911 for your money!
